One thing that I have learned is that nothing ever stays the same. I have seen more changes in the real estate market than most brokers have. The average time in the real estate business is five years or less. What does that mean? It means that there are alot of new people in the business with very little experience. In this business experience is key.

The Sky Is Falling!

Have you ever wondered how your particular area ranks in number of foreclosures? A recent article from the Wall Street Journal ranks Washington State at #32 in foreclosures nationwide.
What does that mean? It actually says that we are way down on the list and very good overall. That doesn't mean we are immune but we are not anywhere near the problem states like California, Florida, Texas and so on. The reality is that Whatcom County has a very strong growth potential based on recent surveys in Money Magazine. We are in the middle of a real estate market adjustment but the long term outlook is very positive. Home values are holding steady and actually going up in some areas. My advice to a prospective buyer is to do your homework and look at many homes before you make an offer. The reality is that markets are always changing and that is a good thing in the long run.
